SINOPSIS
According to Bloomfield (1933) Word is a smallest unit of a language that has a meaning, for example I, is a word because it has a meaning (lexical meaning). The categorization of words is bifurcated into two primary groups, namely, class words and function words, as outlined by Fries in 1964. This classification is consistently based on their forms. Class words further break down into four distinct types: (1) nouns, (2) verbs, (3) adjectives, and (4) adverbs (5) Preposition, collectively known as the parts of speech. Any words outside these four categories are referred to as function words, which lack lexical meanings and consistently accompany parts of speech to form phrases.
